This Sunday, the Bad Things Cabaret Quartet will be gracing the stage of the Can Can for the first time in over three years.
Has it really been that long?
We’ll be opening a night of burlesque, cabaret and sideshow antics with New Orleans’ Freaksheaux to Geaux alongside many of our hometown collaborators. This will be a uniting of freaks from the Big Easy and the Emerald City. Shit’s bound to get weird.
We’ll be opening our set with our version of this Tiger Lillies classic:
As many of you know, the Lillies were one of our earliest influences. One of our most treasured memories is performing this song for the Tiger Lillies themselves at the Can Can after their show at the Moore Theater. Must have been five years ago at least. Now, we return to the scene of the crime.
Come out to the Can Can and re-visit The Bad Things’ cabaret roots in one of the rooms that helped define us. Tickets are available here. Get them quick as I know VIP tickets are sold out.
We’ll also be sharing information on our upcoming CD release events in September. We got two Seattle shows planned and some regional dates in Washington and Oregon. The official release date is September 16. First album in six years people! Be excited because this is our best one yet.
So, we’re heading into the last two weeks of our Fire Fundraising Campaign on IndieGoGo and we’re pretty far from our goal. We still have lots of equipment to replace and an upcoming release on the horizon so we still need all the help we can get. In an effort to encourage more folks to contribute we are offering a couple great incentives.
First one is for our fans and supporters in the great city of New Orleans. Our friends in Freaksheaux to Geaux, a musical, vaudevillian, circus, magic, burlesque show have offered to help out by offering guest list spots to any NOLA-based or NOLA bound Bad Things fan who contributes to the IndieGoGo campaign. All you have to do is e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org after you contribute and they’ll add you to the list of the show of your choice. Their upcoming show on Friday, October 26th will feature Bad Things co-conspirator La Petite Mort and dear friend Eliza Rickman. Here’s their list of other Coming Attractions and below is a little taste of their incredible show.
For all you Seattle based fans, we are offering seriously discounted tickets to our Halloween show, the 9th Annual Cabaret Macabre for all IndieGoGo contributors. How that will work is, once you contribute to the campaign, we will send you a discount code that you will enter on the ticket page to reveal the secret discounted price. This is only available until September 26th, when the campaign ends so get yours today. You can pick up tickets right over here.
And, to everyone that’s contributed so far, we love you and can’t express our appreciation enough.
That’s right kiddies, this weekend is our annual invasion of Seattle Center. The weekend when the seamy underbelly of folk mingles with the unwashed masses for an all-ages orgy of aural enlightenment….or something like that.
That’s right, we’re back at Folklife! We go on at 9pm on the Vera Stage this Saturday, May 26th and then we pop on over to The Funhouse to headline Night Number 2 of the Punk As Folk Weekend! The great God’s Favorite Beefcake and Professor Gall will be opening, along with the Red Stitch Circus Phenomenon all the way from New Orleans. Scroll down for the press release and the lineup for the rest of the weekend. Should be folk-ing amazing!
