Last Seattle Bad Things Show Until November!

That’s right, we’ve been hitting Seattle hard this year getting the new songs and band members up to speed but it’s time to take a break. We have another batch of songs we got to get ready before recording in early 2025, so it’s back to writing mode. But, don’t worry, we have a fun return to Seattle planned for November 1st at the legendary Swedish Club. Stay tuned on that.

The show at Tim’s is not to be missed though. Not only are we joined by our old friends and former practice space roomies The Jesus Chords and the always incredible Vito, but the show is all ages, meaning my kid can come and yours too if you have ’em. What better way to warp their young minds?

The show also has to be wrapped up by 10pm due to noise curfew in White Center so even better for us old folks. But that means we’ll be going on much earlier than normal. I would plan on us hitting the stage by 8:30pm or so.

Advanced tickets are only $10 so I would get those here.

We’re going to be focused on some other regional markets when we return in the fall so look for shows in Carnation, Portland and Tacoma, hopefully. Live outside of Seattle and want The Bad Things to come to your town? Let us know and we’ll try and make it happen.

Happy Summer everyone! Hope you can come party with us on the 15th.

P.S. We will have our amazing new stickers available to hand out. Please vandalize at will and spread the love. We are also going to have prints of Kathy Moore’s amazing poster art for sale. This one’s a framer for sure.

Next Stop….White Center

That’s right. Our annual visit to lovely White Center, brought to you by the nice folks at Big Al Brewing happens this Saturday, July 30th.

They let us take over their stage and play our sad, sick songs. Best part of this show, besides being free, is it’s all ages. Lots of kiddies dancing. They’ve got great beer and you can bring food and eat it on the patio (we recommend Proletariat Pizza or Zippy’s Giant Burgers down the street) and the whole thing runs from 6pm – 9pm. We usually do two sets and bump vintage reggae and ska when we’re not on stage. Summer fun with your Bad Things.

After this we’ll be at Doe Bay Fest but it’s sold out so, if you were lucky enough to get tickets, we’ll see you there. We’ll try and post a report from this very unique and prestigious festival in the beautiful San Juan Islands.

Big Al’s This Saturday Then No Bad Things Until Fall.

cornicello_badthings-119So, The Bad Things summer break is rapidly approaching. In fact, after our show this Saturday at Big Al’s Brewing in White Center, we won’t be gracing a Seattle stage until November when we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Cabaret Macabre.

But, we will be making an appearance in Portland, Oregon after an almost three year absence with our pals Orchestre L’Pow. Details are still being worked out but we do know that burlesque superstars Jeez Loueez and 2012’s King of Burlesque Russell Bruner will be performing. Should be a good time. We’re currently looking into playing another show in the Rose City around that time as well so stay tuned. Continue reading

Big Al Brewing & Sassparilla!

Usually we take the month of August off. In fact, in the past, we’ve taken most of the summer off, but this summer kicked off with a bang….in a bad way…and we found ourselves playing a ton in June, which led to us booking a show in July, which led to us booking two shows in August, so no rest for the wicked or the bad….things that is.

We played Big Al Brewing in White Center last year as part of their Summer Concert Series and had an absolute blast so we were honored to be asked back. We’ll be gracing their stage this Saturday, August 4th. It’s just us all night, or at least until 10pm with things kicking off around 6:30pm. Because they are technically a tasting room, they can have kids there and adults can drink as well so it’s a great deal for south end parents: free show, all-ages, adult beverages, surly drunks with accordions and banjos on stage, food carts and Zippy’s Burgers down the street. Plus, we’ve been known to bump our favorite 60s and 70s ska, rocksteady and reggae classics between sets so it’s a guaranteed good time. Hope to see you all there.

Now, I know a lot of you don’t live in the south end and adhere to a later schedule and are adverse to the presence of children. Don’t worry, we understand. That’s why we were excited to get added to this last minute bill with our good buddies from Portland, Sassparilla at the High Dive on Friday, August 17. This will be your more typical Bad Things gig with us headlining in the wee hours after way too many PBRs, Jim Beams on the rocks and…ahem…herbal performance enhancements. It’s always tough to follow Sassparilla because they put on a kick-ass show. Plus, opening the night will be the really high-quality twang of Jackrabbit, who we are new to but already big fans of. So, despite having to weave through the Friday night douchebags in Fremont to get to the High Dive, this is guaranteed to be a kick-ass night of amazing drinking music. Check out this video of Sassparilla busking at Folklife last year and you’ll get an idea of what I’m talking about.
