So, The Bad Things summer break is rapidly approaching. In fact, after our show this Saturday at Big Al’s Brewing in White Center, we won’t be gracing a Seattle stage until November when we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Cabaret Macabre.
But, we will be making an appearance in Portland, Oregon after an almost three year absence with our pals Orchestre L’Pow. Details are still being worked out but we do know that burlesque superstars Jeez Loueez and 2012’s King of Burlesque Russell Bruner will be performing. Should be a good time. We’re currently looking into playing another show in the Rose City around that time as well so stay tuned.
But, Saturday! This really has become one of our favorite shows of the year. No it’s not in a cool club or even a cool neighborhood (though we think White Center is pretty damn cool) but it’s free and all ages and the audience usually consists of our families, friends and diehard fans. We bump classic 60’s reggae and ska between sets, folks usually grab some food from one of the incredible taco trucks (Taqueria La Fondita #2!) or restaurants (we recommend Zippy’s Giant Burgers, Proletariat Pizza and San Fernando Roasted Chicken….all within walking distance!), and you can’t beat Big Al’s beer. Plus, it’s not technically a bar so kids are welcome! We’ll be playing from 6:30pm to 9:30pm so you can catch us and still get in at a decent hour. Can’t beat it! Plus, it’s supposed to be beautiful on Saturday.
After Saturday, we’re off for a couple months but stay tuned for an active fall with us completing our new album and, hopefully releasing it in the winter. We got some exciting new shows that are in the works, including another visit to Bellingham and possibly some shows outside of the Northwest. We need our beauty rest to prepare for a fall and winter of Bad Things insanity. See you then.
